The Drents-Friese Wold National Park
Located on the border of the provinces of Drenthe and Friesland, this special area is one of the largest nature reserves in the Netherlands! In 2000 this area with more than 6,000 hectares of forest, fallow land, quicksand and valley grassland was designated as a national park. The Drents-Friese Wold is one of the most beautiful and important nature reserves in Europe and is therefore designated as a Natura 2000 area.

Back in the past with the dolmens
Think of Drenthe? Then you think of dolmens! And that's not surprising, because there are no less than 52 of them! Hunebeds are beautiful burial chambers and were built about 5,000 years ago. In the Hunebedcentrum Borger you can discover prehistory: the time of hunters and gatherers and admire the largest hunebed in the Netherlands!
