Groenlo
Groenlo is a small fortified town with a rich history. The old city walls, gates and bulwarks are still clearly visible and give the center character. It is a compact town that lends itself well to a walk along historical sites. The center has cozy terraces, stores and restaurants. Not too big, not too touristy, but enough to do for a relaxing afternoon. The surroundings of Groenlo also invite to cycling and walking.


Enschede
Enschede is the largest city in Twente with over 160,000 inhabitants. A lively city with an extensive shopping center, theaters, museums and a variety of restaurants and bars. The city center is compact and easy to explore on foot. Ideal for anyone who loves a day of shopping, a museum visit or eating out.


Vreden (Germany)
Vreden is a German town just across the border, a 20-minute drive from the resort. It has a charming historic center with half-timbered houses, a cozy market square and authentic German stores and restaurants. It is a popular destination for Dutch guests to soak up the German atmosphere.
The town has a number of nice stores, bakeries and butchers where you can buy German specialties. There are also several restaurants and beer gardens where guests can enjoy German cuisine. On weekends, there is often a market at the Marktplatz.

Castles, estates, museums and heritage
The Achterhoek has a rich history visible in castles, estates and heritage. Kasteel Huis Bergh in 's-Heerenberg (18 km) is one of the largest castles in the Netherlands, with a collection of art and historical furniture. The castle gardens and moats make it extra worthwhile. Estate Vorden (20 km) has no fewer than eight castles in the immediate vicinity, several of which can be visited.
For culture lovers, there are local museums such as the Open Air Museum in Ootmarsum (25 km), which shows how people used to live in the region. The heritage is also special: old water mills, characteristic farms and historic churches tell the story of the Achterhoek. Many of these places are easily accessible and located in beautiful natural surroundings.


Court of Eckberge
Hof van Eckberge is an experience park with a petting zoo, located between Eibergen and Neede. The park combines nature with animals and play opportunities. Children can pet and feed goats, rabbits, chickens and other farm animals. There are also playgrounds, a corn maze (in season) and hiking trails through the estate.
The park has a pancake restaurant where families can have lunch or coffee. The atmosphere is small-scale and non-commercial, making it attractive to families seeking peace and quiet. In different seasons, there are activities such as pumpkin festivals, Christmas markets and lambing days.
